RockTown Reading Challenge Rewards Kids for Reading

Explore a universe of stories this summer at the Rock Island Public Library with the RockTown Reading Challenge. The challenge - to finish either 24 books or six hours of reading between June 1 and July 31. Earn prizes for every 8 books or two hours of reading. Reading aloud to your child counts too.

Since RockTown Reading is for everyone, teens and adults can get in on the challenge too! To enter, fill out a paper or online form. You can find more information at any Rock Island Public Library or at www.rockislandlibrary.org

Visit a Little Library at any of the Rock Island-Milan School District’s elementary schools. Or you can read a book while you’re getting a haircut! Check out these reading stations, Ray’z, Morrison’s Barber Shop. Eleventh Street Barbara Shop, and Jean’s Platinum Stylez.

Share a photo of your book, a picture of yourself reading, or a group shot of your crew attending a reading-focused event on your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, while using the hashtag #RockTownReads to join the movement!
