RIMSD#41 Staff and Students Recognized at MLK Celebration

On Monday, January 20, the 37th Annual Memorial Service and Awards Celebration were held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Rock Island.
 
The celebration is held every year to honor the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 
 
Rock Island High School senior Amelia Peña was awarded the M.L. Lockhart Scholarship. Amelia currently has a 3.4 GPA, is a Student Ambassador, and is involved in athletics. She will be attending Black Hawk College in the fall. 
 
Rock Island High School counselor Jennifer Page-Pierson was awarded the “I Have A Dream" Award. The award is given to an individual for exceptional community service. 
 
Rock Island Center for Math & Science 6th-grader Kalista Moran won the Youth Expression Contest. Kalista got to share her essay in front of the crowd at the King Center.
