Dorian Maag Named New Principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary

Dr. Dorian Maag was named as the new Principal for Thomas Jefferson Elementary at the RIMSD Board of Education Regular Meeting on Tuesday, February 25. She will replace current Thomas Jefferson Elementary Principal Mike Nitzel, who will retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year after 15 years of service in RIMSD #41.

Dr. Maag has worked different levels of education as an elementary classroom teacher, a research assistant/program evaluator at the University of Iowa, and as a Grant Manager/Assistant Principal in the Davenport Community School District. She received her PhD from the University of Iowa in 2017.

She is also the founder and CEO of RoELL Inc., an organization that provides support to families struggling to pay for medicine/medical care their child needs.

"I am thrilled to be a part of the Rock Island-Milan School District at Thomas Jefferson Elementary," said Dr. Maag. "I'm looking forward to meeting all of the TJ staff and also excited to build relationships with the students and their parents as well."

She will begin her new role at Thomas Jefferson on July 1.
