A Washington Junior High Student Mwenyemali Djamal has received an Honorable Mention for the Meyer and Frances Schurman Holocaust Visual Arts Contest!
The seventh-grader was recognized for his artwork "Lost Innocence in a World of Destruction."
Mwenyemali was inspired by the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and came up with idea of the drawing on his own.
24 students from the Quad City area entered and Mwenyemali was one of the 11 students recognized.
