A Message from Dr. Lawrence

Happy Juneteenth Day to the RIMSD #41 Community,

For some who may not know, June 19th is a monumental date in American history. In 1863, President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery, however was not fully recognized by all States until June 19, 1865, some two years later.

For that reason, June 19th or “Juneteenth” is recognized as a state holiday or special day of observance in 45 states across America. As we continue to live through these current times and work to build stronger relationships amongst our diverse populations, let us also take this time to become better informed, more understanding, and more accepting of others.

Thank you for your support of public education and the ongoing work we are doing every day in RIMSD #41.

Sincerely,
Dr. Reginald Lawrence II
