A Message for Families

August 31, 2020

Dear RIMSD #41 Families,

After careful consideration and consultation with the RIMSD #41 Board of Education, the decision has been made to continue with Full Remote Learning for the remainder of the first quarter through Friday, October 2. Therefore, the Rock Island-Milan School District will not move to the Blended Learning plan on Tuesday, September 8 and there will be no in-person learning in the school buildings.

This decision was not made lightly. The district took into full consideration the data from the Rock Island County Health Department and guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health. In order to keep students, staff and families safe, it was determined that continuing with Full Remote Learning for the rest of the quarter was the best decision we could make.

The school district will continue to distribute meals on Mondays and Thursdays at all of the school buildings as we have done these last few weeks, including the afternoon distribution from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at Edison and Washington Junior High Schools.

As we approach our Fall Intersession Break that begins on October 5, we will be sending around another Commitment Form to families for the Second Quarter. We will be asking the same question that we did with the last Commitment Form - that you choose to either send your child for Blended Learning (combination of remote and in-person) or whether you want to continue with Full Remote Learning. At this point in time, we plan to do a Commitment Form for each quarter.

Our school buildings will still be open and reachable by phone and email. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school if you have any questions.

Again, we thank you for your continued support and consideration during this challenging time.

Please know that the safety of your children will always be our top priority.

Sincerely,

Dr. Reginald L. Lawrence II,

Superintendent
