At the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, May 25, the Rock Island-Milan Board of Education approved the hire of Tiah-Farrah Edwards to be the new principal of Thurgood Marshal learning Center.
Mrs. Edwards has worked for the school district since 2005. Since then she has worn many hats, including English Teacher, Dean of Students at Rock Island High School, and Edison Jr. High and Assistant Principal and Principal at Rock Island Academy.
“I am thrilled to highlight and showcase the tremendous work that the Thurgood Marshall Learning Center staff and students have undertaken to create a unique and effective learning environment based on respectful relationships amongst all,” said Mrs. Edwards.
Thurgood Marshall Learning serves close to 80 students and is an alternative program for junior high and high school students.
