Men from all over the community lined outside the entrance of Rock Island Academy Elementary school on Monday, September 27 to cheer on students as they walked into school.
This is the seventh year the school has hosted the Million Father/Man March. Amber Grant, a teacher at the school organizes the event every year. She says the purpose of the event is to "Encourage the influence of men in the lives of children, increase male participation within the school environment, and publicly display unity in our community."
There were individuals there to represent numerous organizations in the community. Some of those include Augustana College, Rock Island High School baseball players, QC Storm, Rock Island Police Department, RIMSD#41 School Board members and staff, Rock Island City Council members, and more!
There were student's fathers and grandfathers who also participated.
Grant hopes to grow the event bigger every year!
