A Message from the Superintendent

This House Rocks

January 2, 2022

Dear RIMSD #41 families,

On behalf of the Board of Education and administration, I want to wish you a happy and healthy 2022! Please note that the administration and I will continue to work closely as we prepare to have students back in the classrooms on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Recently, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) adopted the shortened isolation and quarantine timelines for the General Public issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Please note that at this time, this does not mean any changes for Illinois Schools.

We are aware of the increases in COVID-19 cases, transmission in the community, and the overall fears and concerns associated with the pandemic. Per State of Illinois, the Rock Island-Milan School District will do and follow all current state mandated guidelines to keep our students healthy and in school by following COVID-19 mitigation efforts:

    • Promoting COVID-19 vaccination (including boosters) for those eligible
    • Consistent and correct use of masks
    • Physical distancing
    • Handwashing and respiratory etiquette
    • Increased cleaning and sanitizing of school facilities
    • Staying home when sick and getting tested
    • Contact tracing in combination with isolation and quarantine

We continue to work closely with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Illinois School Board of Education (ISBE) and the Rock Island County Health Department (RICHD). Any updated school guidance will be shared immediately.

I thank you in advance for your continued partnership in keeping our schools safe and secure.

Have a happy and healthy new year!

 Sincerely,

 Dr Reginald Lawrence
