District Hires Two New Principals and High School Administrator

There will be three new faces in the RIMSD for the 2022-2023 school year.
 
At the April 12 Board of Education meeting, the board approved the hire of two elementary school principals and a Student Intervention Administrator at the high school.
 

Jennifer Alongi was named as the new principal at Eugene Field Elementary School. Ms. Alongi's experience includes holding positions as an English Learner (EL) teacher for four years, an EL Curriculum & Instruction Specialist for three years, and an elementary principal for nine years. As an administrator, she prepared, trained, and introduced the first special education instruction and support to her building and staff. She also recruited diversity into her building and provided EL instructional training with support to the staff and students in her building.

John Hawley was named as the new Principal for the Rock Island Center for Math & Science. Mr. Hawley worked as a classroom Spanish teacher for 20 years and then as a junior high and high school administrator for another 14 years (the last 9 of the 14 years as a junior high school principal). As an administrator, John had established himself as an ethical school leader with great integrity. He is a/the voice for diversity within his current district. He has established himself as a learner and trainer to other teachers and administrators in Fierce Conversations and Cognitive Coaching.

Lorelei Andedo will be Rock Island High School's Student Intervention Administrator (SIA). Ms. Andedo has 24 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher and itinerant gifted teacher. For the last seven years, she has been an Associate Principal at a Middle School. As an administrator, Ms. Andedo has created strong relationships with her staff, students, and parents. She implemented a curriculum to address all learners and has created a process to keep student’s parents involved with student character development. Her skills are to establish communication practices to guide staff, students, and parents to the root of a situation and focus on action steps to improve.
