In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs stopped by Thomas Jefferson Elementary School yesterday to highlight the district's commitment to hiring people of all abilities and to talk about IL ABLE “Achieving a Better Life Experience” program.
The IL ABLE program, administered through the State of Illinois Treasurer's office, is a savings and investment program that help give people with disabilities and their families greater financial independence while preserving benefits. More information >> https://illinoisable.com/
Treasurer Frerichs met with one of RIMSD's outstanding Nutrition Services employees, Austan Brunk. Thanks to the assistance of The Arc of the Quad Cities, he's been employed with the district for almost a year and is a great asset to the Nutrition Services staff! Austan showed Treasurer Frerichs his workspace and explained his job duties.
Austan is a great example of why an inclusive workforce is important!
