RIMSD#41 Recognized for its Inclusivity

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. To celebrate The Arc of the Quad Cities is recognizing community partners who are bringing change to the workforce.

Rock Island-Milan School District is one of them. The Arc of the Quad Cities awarded a plaque to the district for recognition of appreciation for being a catalyst for change and hiring people with disabilities.

With The Arc's assistance, the district's Nutrition Services Department has hired many people with disabilities.

"Bringing on special friends in the school district is beneficial for their social skills, student's social skills, and staff social skills," said Beth MacKenna, Director of Nutrition Services.

Not only does it have a positive impact on the employee but it also creates and promotes an inclusive work environment.
