RIMSD#41 Parent of the Month for November

The district's F.A.C.E (Family and Community Engagement) recognizes parents/guardians who are making a positive impact in our school district and community.

Schools can nominate a parent/guardian who goes above and beyond to support the needs of children, our school, and/or our community. The winner receives a gift card, a bunt cake, and a sign that can be displayed outside their residence.

Kayla French

Kayla French nominated by Jennifer Veryzer - Ridgewood

Kayla goes above and beyond to be involved at Ridgewood. She has stepped up to take the lead on our Parent / Teacher Group (PTG). She attends and helps with family nights. Kayla has a positive attitude that is contagious. She consistently works to make Ridgewood a great place to be. We greatly appreciate her engagement in all things "Ridgewood."

Kathy Hollett

Kathy Hollett nominated by Nan Wright & Julie Hansen - Rock Island Center for Math and Science

Kathy Hollett deserves this recognition because she’s always giving time to help at our school. One day she saw that the office was really busy, so she said she would help out for a while until things settled down and she ended up staying the whole day!  She spearheaded our candy bar fundraising sales for the last two years, and was a major factor in our school making over $10,000 this year.  As she interacted with families throughout the sale, she made many positive relationships and connections with other parents. She attends our parent/teacher organization meetings regularly and is an active participant in those meetings. Kathy brings a lot of fun and energy into our school and we love having her here, helping out whenever she can.

Marcos Martinez-German

Marcos Martinez-German nominated by Paulette Risden-Rice - Frances Willard

Marcos is a single father of five children who attend Frances Willard and Edison Junior High. He helps them with homework each night and makes sure they attend school on time each day. He never complains about doing it alone and always "finds a way" to get things done. Two of his daughters recently started playing basketball for the Future Lady Rocks and Marcos attends every game to show his support. He wants to make sure his children are successful and he understands that he must demonstrate the hard work and determination it takes to achieve goals. Congrats on being an awesome dad, Marcos!
