The Rock Island-Milan #41 Board of Education held its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Rock Island High School. Here is a brief recap of what was discussed at the board meeting.

In special items, the Board of Education recognized ISAC Scholars, All-State Musicians, and Fall Sports student-athletes for their accomplishments. They also heard from RIMSD employee Dave Sebben who shared with them his published book on RIHS graduate, Solomon Butler (Class of 1915).
The Board held a Committee of the Whole where they recognized the December Parent/Guardians of the Month.
Board of Education President Terell Williams, Sarah McCoy Family and Community Engagement Lead Liaison, Anita Gomez-Jones and Becky Kennelly.
Board Members heard a presentation from Engineering teachers and students who highlighted Project Lead the Way Engineering Courses at Rock Island High School.
The board then held a collaborative discussion with community members on "Empowering Student Choice: Designing Optimal Elective Pathways".
In action items, the Board approved:
- A six-month renewal of Budget Management Analytics, Financial Planning Analytics, and Comparative Software in the amount of $13,450.68 with Frontline Technologies. District education funds will be used for purchase.
- Bills for payment dated January 15th in the amount of $4,123,884.44.
- The purchase of PLTW materials from Project Lead the Way at a cost of $13,786.75. District funds and RIMEF-donated funds will be used to purchase these materials.
- Professional Architectural Services of Legat Architects for the stadium repairs at Rock Island High School at the time and material rate not to exceed $50,000.
- Approved certified and non-certified appointments and a non-certified resignation.
