It was a week-long celebration at Thurgood Marshall Learning Center, to celebrate who you may ask, well their students!
This is the third year Building Supervisor Destiney Hearn has put together Salute to Teens Week. It's a week to celebrate teens and let them know that the staff cares about them and is here for them.
Hearn herself and community members donated items and volunteered their time and services for the students at TMLC.
"I truly hope my kiddos feel seen, heard, and valued. My goal is to give them new experiences while inviting the community in to truly see what it means to be #TitanTough. TMLC students can also see they have a whole community rooting behind them and wanting to see them succeed," said Hearn.
Here is a list of activities that were held throughout the week to celebrate teens:
Thursday, 4/25 - Ice cream sundae bar
Friday, 4/26 - Food Truck - Flavor Train
Monday, 4/29 - Students could get their hair braided or hair cut by The Braidery and Nicks Be.
Tuesday, 4/30 - students could get their nails done by Mani/Pedi in Motion Latoya Miller.
Wednesday, 5/1 - Football players from the QC Steamwheelers came to visit, there was also rock painting and activity coloring sheets were handed out for Mental Health Awareness Month.
