Attention current RIHS freshmen and sophomores: Rock Island High School is administering the PSAT 10 on Saturday, April 21, 2018 free of charge to any current 9th and 10th graders.
The content and format of the PSAT 10 is very similar to the new SAT and the new PSAT/NMSQT. The only difference is that the PSAT 10 is shorter than the new SAT, and its questions do not get as difficult since this is designed for students at the sophomore level.
If you are interested in taking the PSAT 10 in the spring, you must sign up in the main office- no later than Monday, December 18th. Additional details will be communicated to those that sign-up, when we return from winter break.
Only those that sign-up by the deadline will be able to take the PSAT 10 on April 21st, because the test must be ordered. Please see Mrs. Page-Pierson in the counseling department for additional information or if you have any questions or call 309-793-5950 x2010.
The most common reasons for taking the PSAT 10 are:
- To receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
- To see how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.
- To help prepare for the SAT. You can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions you will see on the SAT.
- To receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to Student Search Service.
