Coaches Hall of Fame Inducts Michelle Lillis

Rock Island High School Athletic Director and former Cross Country/Track Coach Michelle Lillis was inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in a ceremony on Saturday, January 6. Several former coaches and student athletes were there to join her in her moment. This accolade follows her honor as Coach of the Year in 2009 after the Rock Island High School Girls Track Team won the state championship.

Lillis' nomination read: "She has displayed great dedication, exhibited tireless work ethic in promoting her sports and preparing her teams, and has been an excellent role model for her students. She truly cares about her student athletes, earning their trust, loyalty and admiration. It is not uncommon to see Michelle coaching her team while simultaneously organizing the finish line workers and managing meet. She has served as the driving force and strong advocate for track and field and cross country and women's sports in general....her coaching has been life-changing for many."

"It's very humbling and exciting to be recognized by one's peers," said Lillis. "Truly an honor."
