RIHS Teacher Recognized by Bi-State Literacy Council

The Bi-State Literacy Council held their annual awards and recognition breakfast on Friday, September 27 at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley.
 
Rock Island High School EL Teacher Jessica Matherly received a Literacy Award for her work and contributions to increasing literacy among the English Learners population at Rock Island High School. 
 
Spring Forward Learning Center, an after-school and summer enrichment partner with the Rock Island-Milan School District, also received a Literacy Award for their work with students and their families in increasing literacy and reading levels. 
 
The Bi-State Literacy council exists to support and encourage the development of supportive services for people with literacy need in the Quad Cities area. Their mission is to lead the challenge to overcome illiteracy in all its forms through advocacy, education, awareness and empowerment.
